Contractors

Friends of the North Country, Inc. is continuously seeking eligible General Contractors interested in working on publicly-funded programs in Clinton, Franklin and Essex Counties.

Friends regularly applies for housing rehabilitation grant programs; we currently have active grant programs producing work, which is bid out to our pool of contractors.

The majority of projects are owner-occupied housing rehabilitation, and are funded through various grant sources.

Minority and Women Owned businesses are encouraged to participate, as well as Section 3 contractors as defined by US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). All participating contractors are encouraged to hire low- and very-low income trainees for these projects.

Housing Rehabilitation work often includes: roofing, siding, replacement windows and doors, plumbing, electrical, foundation work, interior finish work, kitchens and bathrooms, accessible ramps, and more.

Projects that entail lead-based paint hazard reduction, are bid to contractors that are certified for such work.

To become listed on the eligible contractor roster, you must:

  • Fill out a Contractor Application

  • Sign Affirmative Action Agreement

  • Provide 3 references

  • Provide proof of at least $1,000,000 in commercial general liability insurance coverage

  *  Contractors must carry Worker's Compensation and NYS Disability for all employees

  *  For lead-based paint certified contractors, provide proof of Certification

Provide the above noted documents to:
